College/career readiness indicates that a student will graduate with the necessary knowledge and skills in English Language Arts and Mathematics to be successful in job trainings and/or college without remediation. Students who meet or exceed the expectations of the Common Core Standards at each grade level (Pre-K-12) are determined to be on the trajectory toward college/career readiness upon graduation. In the State Education Department’s own words, the Common Core Learning Standards are “the path to college and career readiness.
