Class Placement Input

Dodge has an incredible staff!  As a result, any placement is a great placement.  We ask that parents not attend to hearsay in the community about teachers but form their own opinion, based on personal experience.  Therefore, the only requests accepted to opt out of a teacher’s class is when the request was based on the experience of another child in the family.

If two students need to be separated from one another so that each may better focus on learning, those requests are also given consideration.  Be sure to remind the office annually of such requests.

Placements are determined at the end of the school year by the receiving team with input from all involved… the special education teacher, gifted programming specialist, social worker, reading teacher, administration, etc.  Our goal is to create heterogeneous classrooms for whom the teachers can fully support and differentiate appropriately.  We often cluster certain groups to maximize our ability to support those groups, and build our well-mixed groups around them.  

During the last week of August, families are notified by mail of the class placement for the upcoming school year.  Please do not call the school office to ask for this information, as we will not share it before the mailing.   

Parents may also share student specific information annually to assist the school in appropriate classroom placement.

If you would like to provide input on your child's placement, open the attachment below, print the form, complete it and send it back to school addressed to the principal by May 15th.
