5-10-21 Update to Families  Regarding In-Person Instruction

May 10, 2021

Dear Williamsville Central School District Families,

As you are aware, State Supreme Court Judge Emilio Colaiacovo issued a temporary order on Friday that stated, “so long as community transmission rates are at, or closely near to, 100 per 100,000 people, the Williamsville and Orchard Park School Districts shall return to in-person, full-time instruction for middle and high school students effective May 17, 2021.

Judge Colaiacovo also clarified today that his order requires that all in-person students attend five days per week, including Wednesdays.  This means, if the transmission rate is at acceptable levels, the District will return to full-time, in-person instruction on May 17, 2021.  While we are able to offer full-time, in-person instruction, the hybrid model will no longer be an option.

Students currently receiving fully remote instruction will remain in their remote model.

Students who indicated a change in their learning model on the Instructional Model Survey, which was shared with families on April 12, 2021, will be placed in the model they selected beginning on May 17, 2021.

We will monitor the transmission rates and update you if there is any additional guidance from the court affecting this return date.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic.
