06-04-21 Mask Guidance Update to Families

June 4, 2021

Dear Williamsville Central School District Families,

Late today, Dr. Howard Zucker sent a memo to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) outlining changes the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) will be announcing on Monday, June 7, 2021.

Until this guidance is formally sent by the NYSDOH, received, and reviewed by the District, we are continuing with our current mask guidance – that all students and staff wear a mask while on school grounds.

While we are encouraged by the decline in the COVID-19 numbers and an increase in vaccinations in our region, we still have many students and staff members who remain unvaccinated.  We want our entire school community to feel safe and secure in our buildings and in their respective learning environments. We are proud of the example that our school community has set with the mitigation practices we use every day to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

Once we receive this guidance, we will provide another update to our families and staff.

Thank you for your patience.

Dr. John E. McKenna
Acting Superintendent of Schools
