06-24-21 Dr. McKenna Message to Families and Staff

June 24, 2021

Dear Williamsville Families and Staff,

It is hard to believe that this year is coming to a close.  It has truly been a year like none other.  I need to thank everyone for all your efforts, support, flexibility, and for always being resilient during tough times.

This year taught us that when we work together, we can overcome obstacles and accomplish anything we put our mind to.  Through hard work, determination, and teamwork, we successfully developed and implemented our Reset, Relaunch, Return Plan, our Hyflex model, our #WillPower initiative, our #WillPower for Wishes Campaign, and our Plan to Pivot which successfully brought our students back to in-person learning.  The programs we created were highly successful initiatives that made a huge impact on our students.  They brought us all together and propelled us through adversity.

This year taught us, that with adversity comes opportunity.  Through these tough times, we came together and developed some extraordinary new programs for next year including all-day Universal Pre-K, STEAM Labs and Math Labs at the elementary level, and additional support for our English Language Learners and special education students.

To our graduating seniors, you have learned lessons that will last you a lifetime.  You are equipped to handle any challenge and I am confident you will be successful and make this world a better place.  To our dedicated faculty and staff members who are retiring, I sincerely thank you for going through these tough times with me and I wish you the very best in retirement – you deserve it!

We are truly ending this year on a positive note. I need to say a sincere and heartfelt thank you to all of our students, parents, families, faculty, staff, and administrators.  You were amazing!

You went above the call of duty every day and I am proud of all of your efforts.  It has been an honor and privilege to serve as your Acting Superintendent during this extraordinary year.

I thank everyone again for your outstanding resiliency.  I wish everyone a great summer.  Enjoy and rejuvenate, and we’ll see you in the fall!

Sincerely,

Dr. John E. McKenna
Acting Superintendent of Schools
