08-24-21 Information for the 2021-2022 School Year

August 24, 2021

Dear Williamsville Central School District Families,

Welcome back to the 2021-2022 school year.  I trust you all have had a chance to rest and enjoy summer break.  It’s hard to believe that summer is ending and we are about to embark on another new and exciting school year.

I would like to take a moment and thank everyone for the warm welcome, candid conversations, and sharing your thoughts on the strengths and areas of improvement for our District at the listening tours in July.  Your input will assist our District in moving forward with a strategic plan that will guide our District initiatives in the future.

As we approach the start of school, we want to share important instructional, health, and safety information developed with guidance from the Erie County Department of Health (ECDOH), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Guidance for COVID-19 Prevention in K-12 Schools (CDC), and the American Academy of Pediatrics’(AAP) COVID-19 Guidance for Safe Schools.  The documents listed below explain instructional components for the academic year and the mitigation practices we will be using to help slow the spread of COVID-19 and keep our schools open for full-time, in-person instruction.

At this time, and in accordance with ECDOH’s mask mandate, the District will require universal masking for all individuals, regardless of vaccination status, while inside our schools and District buildings at all times.  Masks are strongly recommended but not required while outdoors. While we are encouraged by the vaccination numbers in our region and District, it is important to note that many of our students are still not eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.  In addition, we remain cognizant that COVID-19 can still be contracted and spread by fully vaccinated individuals.

We will be hosting a District-wide virtual meeting through Zoom on Monday, August 30th at 5 p.m. to review our school reopening documents and answer your questions.  You can access the webinar at this link: https://us06web.zoom.us/j/81287120333?pwd=TlcxVVJiSENNc3pPZlBvd201eGFqQT09.

Please submit your questions to contact@williamsvillek12.org by noon on Friday, August 27th.

I personally, along with the Leadership Team and the Board of Education, appreciate your continued support and involvement as we enter a new phase of education during a pandemic and work to enhance our shared mission, beliefs, and the many areas of greatness in our District.

I look forward to welcoming students back to the school buildings on Wednesday, September 8th.
