01-13-22 NYSDOH ECDOH Clarification to Families Regarding COVID-19 and Schools
January 13, 2022
Dear Williamsville Central School District Families,
We know and understand the frustration as guidelines and information from the federal, state, and local levels continue to change regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and the impact on schools.
Updated guidance as it applies to a school setting from the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), which was adopted by the Erie County Department of Health (ECDOH), allows for individuals who are fully vaccinated, regardless of booster status, and exposed to a positive COVID-19 individual, to continue to attend school.
Fully vaccinated is defined as two (2) weeks after the receipt of either two doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or one dose of Johnson and Johnson vaccine.
As a reminder, any individual, regardless of vaccination status exhibiting signs and/or symptoms or tests positive for COVID-19 are required to stay home and contact your building of attendance.
Thank you for your continued partnership, patience, and understanding as we manage COVID-19 and its impact on our schools.
Sincerely,
Dr. Darren J. Brown-Hall
Superintendent of Schools
