05-17-22 Message from Dr. Brown-Hall to Families, Students, and Staff Regarding Safety

May 17, 2022

Dear Williamsville Central School District Families, Students, and Staff,

As we continue to grieve and provide support following the horrific act of violence that took place in Buffalo over the weekend, we know and understand the heightened sense of awareness and anxiety that is felt throughout the community.

It is important that we all remain vigilant, especially as it pertains to threats.  The Amherst Police Department is aware of the threats circulating on social media and working with local and Federal authorities.  At this time, the threats circulating are believed to be non-credible.

If you see something, say something.  If there is an immediate emergency, please dial 9-1-1.

The District is in constant communication with APD and will continue to have discussions to ensure the health and safety of our school community. Any new developments will be shared with you.  We have Resource Officers who are stationed at our high schools and travel throughout the District on a daily basis.  They are great resources for our District and we are incredibly grateful to partner with APD.

As we shared over the weekend, our administrators and counselors are available for any student or staff member that needs someone to talk to or ask questions.

Sincerely,

Dr. Darren J. Brown-Hall
Superintendent of Schools
