05-24-22 Message to Families and Staff Following School Shooting In Texas
May 24, 2022
Dear Williamsville Central School District Families and Staff,
Earlier today, there was another mass shooting in the United States, this time at an elementary school in Texas, that claimed the lives of 14 students and a teacher. Our hearts break for the families and community of Uvalde, Texas. Following the horrendous act of hate and violence that took place in Buffalo last weekend, we know and understand the impact these tragic events can have on a community.
We want to reassure our entire school community that safety remains our top priority. Throughout the day on Wednesday, May 25th, our School Resource Officers will be traveling around the District and visiting each of our schools. As we’ve shared previously, we are thankful and grateful for the partnership we have with the Amherst Police Department and their commitment to providing safety and security throughout our District. We also want to remind our school community that construction has begun at some of our buildings as part of the upgrades associated with the School Security Improvement Project.
Our administrators, counselors, and mental health support staff are available for any student or staff member that needs someone to talk to or ask questions.
As a reminder, please stay vigilant. If you see something, say something.
Sincerely,
Dr. Darren J. Brown-Hall
Superintendent of Schools
