June 14, 2022
Dear Williamsville Central School District High School Families,
We wanted to inform you that the New York State Education Department (NYSED) is allowing for flexibility for the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 Regents Examination Scores to satisfy the requirements for graduation. In short, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, NYSED is allowing for a special appeal of Regents Exams for graduation as long as certain eligibility conditions are satisfied. These eligibility conditions include:
- The student must have taken the Regents Exams during the June 2022, August 2022, January 2023, June 2023, or August 2023 test administration period
- The student must have a score of 50-64 on the Regents Examination that is the subject of the appeal and was taken during one of the above administrations
- The student has attained a course average in the course that meets or exceeds the required passing grade by the school and is recorded on the student’s official transcript with grades achieved by the student in each quarter of the school year
Please be sure to review documents from NYSED if you intend to file a special appeal:
- NYSED Memo: Flexibility for the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 Regents Examination Scores to Satisfy the Requirements for Graduation
- NYSED Frequently Asked Questions on Flexibility for the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 Regents Examination Scores to Satisfy the Requirements for Graduation
- NYSED Special Appeal Form (to be completed by the school for students who qualify according to NYSED criteria)
If students qualify for an appeal, additional information will be shared by your school. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s school counselor.
Sincerely,
Dr. Darren J. Brown-Hall
