08-10-22 Child Nutrition and Transportation Update

August 10, 2022

Dear Williamsville Central School District Families,

As we shared last night  during the Board of Education meeting, there are two important items we wanted to make you aware of as we prepare for the start of the 2022-2023 school year.

Child Nutrition – Free and Reduced Meals

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, meals were provided to all students regardless of whether they qualified for free and reduced meals.  However, for the 2022-2023 school year, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) requirement has changed, and families must fill out an application and qualify for the free and reduced meal program.

Applications are available in your school building main offices and on the Williamsville Central School District Child Nutrition page: https://www.williamsvillek12nutrition.com/schools/1496685407405/mealapps/Free_and_Reduced_Application.pdf

In addition, we want to remind families to sign up for the My School Bucks program, which is a pre-pay program for meals.  Information and how to create an account is available here: My School Bucks Pre-Payment

If the USDA changes this guidance during the school year, we will send a follow-up communication to families.

If you have any questions regarding Child Nutrition, please reach out to the Child Nutrition Department:

Transportation - Busing

Busing information for students will be available for families on Monday, August 29th

As we begin the school year, please be patient and understanding as we continue to work on student ridership and bus capacity, which may result in bus route changes.  Due to the need for daily bus routing changes/flexibility, MyStop bus tracking may not be available at various times. If you have any questions, please contact the Transportation Department by calling 716-626-8393.

Like many school districts throughout the country, we are anticipating a driver shortage to start the year.  If you or someone you know is interested in being a bus driver, please contact Student Transportation of America by calling 716-912-6143.

Thank you for your understanding and patience.

We look forward to a strong start to the year and continuing to serve our students.
