Welcome to the Weekly Update!  Happy snow day!

With the lake effect snow storm bearing down on our region, I want to reemphasize that all after school activities for today, Friday, November 18th, Saturday, November 19th, and Sunday, November 20th are cancelled.  These details were shared through WITS, the District website, and social media.

The Speaker Series on Restorative Educational Practices will be rescheduled.  We will have a new date to announce next week. I also know that middle school parent-teacher conferences have been rescheduled so please keep an eye out for additional details from your building principals.

The COVID-19 Vaccination and Booster clinic has been rescheduled for Friday, December 2nd.  The Erie County Department of Health has indicated appointment times will be the same time as your previously scheduled appointment. For example, if you scheduled your appointment for today 3:30 p.m., your rescheduled appointment will be on Friday, December 2nd at 3:30 p.m.  We will also be sending a communication to families and staff next week with this information.

On Monday, the Williamsville Board of Education is holding a Special Board Meeting at 5:30 p.m. at the District Office.  It will also be streamed on the District’s YouTube channel.  The agenda is posted on BoardDocs and the District website.

Next week is a short week due to the Thanksgiving Recess.  There is no school on Wednesday, November 23rd, Thursday, November 24th, and Friday, November 25th.

Speaking of days off, this week’s Superintendent Question comes from Ashley.  She writes, “How do we access the WCSD calendar for important dates or no school?”

Thank you for the question, Ashley. First, on WITS, the school calendar has information on important school dates and when there is no school.  On the District website, hover over the “Resources” tab and click “calendar.” On this page, you will be able to view two important items. The school calendar, which includes breaks and days off, is created in partnership with Erie 1 BOCES and adopted in March of each year by the Board of Education.

The second item on this page, you’ll be able to view the printed District calendar, which is bound and shipped to families over the summer.  If you have any questions regarding events at your school, be sure to reach out to your building.

Please stay safe throughout the weekend!  We’ll see you next week!
