Welcome to the Weekly Update!

Next week, there is no school on Monday as we honor, reflect, and celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

On Thursday, January 19th, we will be hosting the Speaker Series on Restorative Educational Practices from 6 – 7:30 p.m. at Heim Middle School.  This event is being held in partnership with the PTSA Council and will be facilitated by Linda Ruest, the District’s Director for Professional Learning.  Information on this event was sent through WITS, shared on the District website, and through social media.  We look forward to seeing you there and continuing to educate and inform our community on the importance of this initiative in our schools.

We talked about this last week, and I want to mention it again this week – thank you to the parents who e-mailed and expressed interest in joining the Wellness/Nutrition and Fitness, Technology, and District-wide School Safety Team Committees.  With more than 100 inquiries, we’ll be holding a lottery to select individuals to join those committees, so keep an eye out in your e-mail for this notification.  Thank you for your interest and we look forward to working in partnership with you!

Since we are in a new year, I want to remind our school community that you can submit questions you have for me through contact@williamsvillek12.org and I will answer one during the weekly update.  We had some great questions earlier in the year with the Superintendent Q&A and I enjoyed answering them.  I want to stress this segment in the newsletter is to help provide transparency and clarity to stakeholders.

The Bills journey to the Super Bowl starts Sunday when they host the Dolphins.  The incredible progress Damar Hamlin has made has lifted our entire community’s spirit and we are all hoping for another win and deep postseason run.

Speaking of sports…While our student-athletes are currently competing in the Winter Sports Season, I want to highlight and congratulate the student-athletes from Williamsville East, Williamsville North, and Williamsville South who were named All-Western New York Scholar Athletes or received honorable mention.  In total, the District had nine All-Western New York Scholar Athletes and 155 receive honorable mention.  As we wrap up, I want to share the list of student athletes who received this recognition.

Enjoy the weekend – Go Bills! We’ll see you next week!
