A Statement from the Williamsville School Board Regarding a Delayed Reopening

September 5, 2020

The Williamsville School Board was unaware of Dr. Scott Martzloff’s decision to delay the start of school for remote learners.

Board members were informed on September 2, 2020 that the District was prepared to open its doors to students and that school would start on September 8, 2020.  Please know that the school board is comprised of parents who are committed to serving our students and our community.

This news of the remote start delay came as a surprise on Friday evening. The Williamsville School Board will be holding a Special Board Meeting in regard to remote instruction and the reopening of Williamsville Schools on Sunday, September 6, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. As part of the Special Board Meeting, the Williamsville School Board will be meeting in Executive Session. We will further discuss the reopening plan during our Regular Board Meeting on Tuesday, September 8, 2020.

We sincerely apologize to the families that are impacted by this last-minute decision and we will work with the District to ensure students in grades 5-12 who are in the remote online learning model can start their school year as soon as possible.
