11-9-20 COVID-19 Yellow Zone Informational Update to Families and Staff
November 9, 2020
Dear Williamsville Central School District Families and Staff,
Today, Governor Andrew Cuomo along with Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz, designated Erie County as a “Yellow Zone.”
On Friday, November 6, 2020, we sent a letter to our school community with information regarding Yellow Zone, Orange Zone, and Red Zone micro-cluster designations and the rise of COVID-19 cases in our area. You can read the letter here – School Guidance: Micro-cluster Yellow, Orange, and Red Zone.
In our ongoing conversations with the Erie County Department of Health (ECDOH), we have been assured the District can remain open as we await further guidance from the New York State Department of Health and the ECDOH. At this time, we continue to operate with our hybrid and remote learning models at the elementary school level and the hyflex model at the middle and high school levels.
We will continue to monitor the situation, work with our partners in the community along with the ECDOH, and provide you with updates as soon as they become available. If the testing parameters cannot be met, we must pivot to fully remote instruction at the elementary, middle, and high school levels.
For further information on “Yellow Zone” micro-clusters, please refer to NYSDOH Guidance: Yellow Zone Micro-Clusters.
For further information on “Orange Zone” and “Red Zone” micro-clusters please refer to NYSDOH Guidance: Orange and Red Zone Micro-Clusters.
Stay safe and healthy.
Sincerely,Dr. John E. McKenna
Acting Superintendent of Schools
