This serves as an informational notice to our school community and DOES NOT mean that you or your child have been exposed to or have come in close or proximate contact with the COVID-19 positive individuals.

While we cannot release information regarding these individuals due to Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act (FERPA), it is important to note that these people are in isolation, and the ECDOH is conducting contact tracing to identify all individuals who may have been in close or proximate contact with the COVID-19 positive individuals.  The ECDOH will directly communicate with any individual who is identified as a close or proximate contact to the positive COVID-19 individuals so that further health and safety measures can be taken.  If you are not directly contacted by the ECDOH, the Department has indicated no action is required for you or your child(ren) as it pertains to these positive cases.

The District will continue to work with the ECDOH to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and school community.

For signs and symptoms of COVID-19, along with health and safety preventative measures to help slow the spread of the disease, please refer to our COVID-19 Education page on our website here: COVID-19 Education.

The District has taken immediate action to ensure areas occupied by the COVID-19 positive individuals have been thoroughly cleaned and sanitized in accordance with Department of Health and Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines.

Please contact your child’s school nurse, your own healthcare provider, or visit the ECDOH at https://www2.erie.gov/health/index.php?q=coronavirus should you have any questions about this notice or COVID-19.

New York State Department of Health has created a COVID-19 Daily Report Card that families and staff can access to obtain information regarding positive COVID-19 cases in each district’s school buildings.  Please refer to this website for daily COVID-19 updates: https://schoolcovidreportcard.health.ny.gov/#/home

As a reminder, please also be sure to complete the daily COVID-19 Health Screening Questionnaire that is available on WITS to help keep our school community as healthy and safe as possible.  Thank you for assisting us with this very important health and safety measure.

Sincerely,

Dr. John E. McKenna
Acting Superintendent of Schools
