02-23-21 Section VI Spectator Policy Update to Families and Student-Athletes
February 23, 2021
Dear Williamsville Central School District Families and Student-Athletes,
Today, Section VI announced it will allow up to two (2) spectators per player for basketball and swimming for the remainder of the Winter sports season. The new Section VI policy is for home team spectators only.
In accordance with Section VI policy, two (2) spectators will be allowed to attend basketball and swimming varsity, junior varsity, and modified athletic events beginning Wednesday, February 24, 2021.
Due to the fact that athletic events for hockey, bowling, and skiing are held at non-District properties, spectators will have to follow the rules and guidance of those private businesses.
With spectator limitations, the District will stream varsity, junior varsity, and now some modified games. As a reminder, the YouTube channels for the Flames, Spartans, and Billies can be accessed here:
In addition, due to space limitations at some of our middle schools during modified games, our athletic directors are in the process of changing gameday locations to allow for spectators and streaming. Each school will be sharing those venue updates with families. I want to thank our athletic directors for their efforts in making these changes possible.
The District will be sharing COVID-19 gameday protocols for spectators later today.
Thank you for your patience.
Dr. John E. McKenna
Acting Superintendent of Schools
