03-03-21 Update Regarding WITS Informational Survey

March 3, 2021

Dear Williamsville Central School District Families,

Thank you to everyone who participated in last week’s WITS Informational Survey. In that survey we asked, “If there is a change in State guidance allowing for increased capacity for full-time, in-person instruction, which instructional model would you choose?”

The District received 8,172 responses for students, with 6,695 selecting full-time, in-person instruction, and 1,477 selecting the fully-remote instructional model.

To reiterate, this was an information gathering survey. This survey will allow the District to be proactive and continue planning in the event guidance changes and allows for increased capacity for full-time, in-person instruction.

It is important to remember that at this time, there has been no change to school guidance from the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), New York State Education Department (NYSED), or Governor Cuomo.  Any changes regarding school guidance come directly from NYSDOH, NYSED, or the Governor.

As we continue to plan and prepare, administrators and staff members from the elementary, middle, and high schools met on Monday and again today.  We are in the process of reviewing spaces within our schools and discussing logistics along with health and safety measures. We will continue to update our community at the next board meeting on Tuesday, March 9, 2021.

If a change to school guidance is made by NYSDOH, NYSED or Governor Cuomo, we will share that information with you as quickly as possible.

Thank you for your patience.

Sincerely,

Dr. John E. McKenna
Acting Superintendent of Schools
