Nopublic School Student Transportation

Nonpublic school student transportation

All nonpublic school transportation will follow the same COVID-19 guidelines that are in place for each of our own district schools.  All bus routes may be impacted by the District’s COVID-19 bus capacity limit of 24 students.   Any bus that has a capacity above 24 students will suspend their route and proceed to take the current bus load of students to school.  Once students are dropped off at school, the bus will resume their route.  This situation will result in a substantial time delay for the students that were not picked up by the bus.  The District will make every attempt to post information on our website concerning late buses.

Out-of-district nonpublic schools (Usage of transfer buses)

The District uses transfer buses that combine students from different nonpublic schools that take them to their school based on geographic area.  These routes provides the shortest bus ride time to nonpublic school students.  Nonpublic schools that have higher student transportation numbers may have their transfer bus route negatively impacted by the reduced bus capacity limitation.  If this occurs, it will result in significant bus arrival and departure delay, potentially over one hour.  The District will make every effort to update parents on our website about these bus delays.

Example – Transfer Bus A takes students to school campuses in the city of Buffalo.  The bus reaches student capacity, leaves the district and goes into the city of Buffalo and drops off students.  The bus will return to the district to pick-up the remaining nonpublic school students and take them to their school in the city of Buffalo.

All potential bus delays are due to the reduced student capacity of buses and the fact that there is a limited supply of buses and drivers.
