TRANSIT MIDDLE MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS

A Day
 
 All 7/8 Orchestra students must bring their violins and violas home today!  You will not be able to come to Transit to pick up your instrument on Monday before our rehearsal at East.  Cellists must bring home cello to east on Monday.

 There will be an 8th Grade Activities meeting on Tuesday, 3/17 during lunch in B224 to discuss Peer Awards.

  Attention all 7/8 Grade students:  There will be an information meeting for any student who would like to join the Williamsville East Modified Track Team on Wednesday, March 18, in the Fitness Lab beginning ay 3:45 PM … Please see your Physical Education teacher for more details.

 The 7th grade is in the lead for the canned food drive!  Keep these cans coming in!  The canned food drive will last all month!  Remember, there will be prizes for the winning grade level!

 There is an Author’s Guild Creative Writers meeting today after school from 3:35-5:30pm in the Library with Mrs. Miranda.  Typically, about 45 kids attend.

 March is Woman’s History Month and the year 2020 marks the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution that granted many women the right to vote.  In order to celebrate, the Library is having a 19th Amendment quiz.  Test your knowledge of the amazing fight for women’s voting rights.  If you don’t know the answers to the quiz questions you can use Google or other resources to help you answer the questions.  Check out the women’s history display outside the Library to get some hints.

One winner with the most correct answers will win a $15 gift card to Barnes & Noble, 10 additional students will win a free poster.  Check your WITS mail for a link to the 19th Amendment quiz, or head over to the Library webpage.  The quiz will run from Monday, March 2- Friday March 27.  Winners will be announced on March 31st.  Good luck!

 Canned Food Drive to benefit the Williamsville Food Pantry!  Please bring in your canned food and non-perishable food (cereal, pasta) and place it in the grade level bins outside the library.  The food drive will run for the entire month of March.  There will be prizes for the winning grade level so bring in your food today!

 Attention all members of the Kids Improving Their Community:  There are NO MORE meetings in March OR April.  Our next meeting is May 7.  See you then!

 There is an Author’s Guild Creative Writers meeting this Friday from 3:35-5:30pm in the Library.  The snack sign-up is already posted in the Author’s Guild Google Classroom.  Our theme this week is St. Patrick’s Day, so think green-white-orange for snacks if you dare!

 Congratulations to Min Joo Kwak in 5th grade.  Min Joo entered the PTA Reflections competition this past autumn. Min Joo’s artistic piece called “I Survived” in the Special Artist division of Film Production earned an Award of Excellence in the New York State PTA Reflections competition.  This award was given to only one entry in her respective age group for this category, designating Min Joo’s entry as the best in New York State!  Min Joo’s entry will now advance to the National PTA Reflections competition to compete against state entries from around the nation.  The judging for the national competition will be in late April and early May.  Good luck Min Joo!  We’re so proud of you!

A Day

 If there are any 7th or 8th graders interested in playing Modified Hockey- there will be a try out on Monday, March 9th at 8:20pm at the Northtown Center Feature Rink.  The cost is $30 and you must bring school ID or a copy of your report card.  Please arrive by 7:30pm for registration.  Thank you!
